District of Mersing, Johor

The charming district of Mersing on the North East coast of Johor is an ideal place for peaceful relaxation and adventure.

It is also an enchanting fishing village, which recently has expanded into a busy coastal town. In the town centre, there are a wide variety of retail outlets, restaurants and traditional coffee shops.

Mersing is also a gateway to the tropical islands of Sibu, Pemanggil, Rawa and Tioman in Pahang. Its main jetty serves Pulau Tioman and the Mersing Group of Islands. These islands, known for their beautiful coral reefs, are home to hundreds of nesting sea birds that shares their habitat with basking tourists and eager divers.

Mersing can easily be accessed from Singapore, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur and the East Coast by car, bus, taxi or coaches.

In the ECER Master Plan, Mersing will focus on the development of mainland coastal tourism, sustainable island tourism and eco-tourism.
