The ECER will further enhance education opportunities in Malaysia to both Malaysian and international students. This is important in order to meet human resource demands of the ECER.

  • Access to quality institutions
    ECER residents and populace will gain access to quality institutions that has world-class facilities and teaching faculty. These institutions will also be closely linked with industries in order to provide latest curriculum requirements to meet industrial demands and needs.

  • Creation of four new universities
    ECER will be home to four new universities allowing more opportunities for students to pursue graduate and post-graduate education

  • Access to online/ICT-based learning
    Residents can also enhance their skills via online learning programmes. ICT skills are also being promoted in order to ensure that ECER employees are well-equipped to handle ICT and office applications.

For academia & teachers:

  • Jobs in new learning institutions
    With the creation of four new universities, a knowledge-park that will support a population of 100,000 and the establishment of several Centres of Excellence, there are many academic and teaching posts available in the ECER.

  • R&D opportunities
    For those who seek R&D opportunities, the conscious collaboration between academia and industry will be an excellent platform for new research and new discoveries. R&D grants will be made available, and results can be immediately applied to industries. The theory-to-application process is expected to be more rapid.


  • Specialised and Up-to-Date curriculum
    Education institutions in the ECER will update their course curriculum in tandem with new workplace requirements.
