Description

The Small Medium Enterprise (SME) programs for handicraft will be formulated and focused on product improvement, process upgrade and extension on their marketing reach to the global market . Among the programmes to support the handicraft industry are as follows :-

• Head Start Programme
  • A facilitative and close support programme to spawn Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) that is able to be dynamic, culturally distinctive and globally competitive.
    
• Anchor-Vendor Programme
  • The focus of this programme is to develop anchors, which will define the product design, product quality, production process and marketing.
    
• Incubator Programme
  • Incubator sites will be established and assistance in facilities and up-to date technology will be rendered to support budding handicraft entrepreneurs.
    
    
• Skill Development Programme
  • Selected potential designers will be given financial assistance to further their studies in reputable and well known design schools.
    
    
• Global Supplier Programme
  • Selected entrepreneurs will be given opportunity to undergo training to attain global supplies status.

Handicraft villages will also be set up in the Region. The village will serve as a one-stop centre for the manufacturer to market its own niche products and also to provide industry competitiveness in producing quality products.
