PETRONAS Petroleum Industry
Complex (PPIC)
• The oil, gas and petrochemical
hub in the Kertih-Chukai-Gebeng area is a unique model of
integration, from upstream exploration and production down
to the oil and gas value chain, including petrochemical
manufacturing, adding and maximizing value at every stage
of the process.
• An essential feature is the establishment
of necessary linkages and shared infrastructure and support
facilities, thus ensuring competitive advantage via:
1. Operational synergies and efficiencies
2. Economies of scale through centralised operations and
services and pooling of expertise.
To-date, the PPIC comprise a total of 41
plants and facilities, with a total investment of about
RM 70 billion.
Integrated Petrochemical Complexes
At present, there exist two major downstream
integrated petrochemical complexes in the Region :
1. The Kertih Integrated Petrochemical
Complex (KIPC) in Terengganu
2. The Gebeng Integrated Petrochemical Complex (GIPC) in
Pahang
