Mainland
Coastal
One of the main initiatives
is the effort to develop more tourism infrastructure on the
mainland, taking developmental pressure away from the islands.
The region’s relatively
pristine coastline presents an opportunity for the establishment
of large scale integrated resorts or even intimate boutique
resorts presenting the best of world class features and a
distinctive local flavour.
The focus on mainland-coastal
tourism will also ensure that the delicate balance of the
island’s ecosystem, marine life and coral is not adversely
impacted by human activity, preserving the pristine beauty
of these islands for generations to come.
For this to happen,
the ECER has identified a number of strategic locations for
new integrated tourism resort development, as well as modest-scaled
incremental resorts. These locations were selected for their
natural beauty and long term future potential for accommodating
greater number of visitors.
