Ecotourism
The East Coast has a wealth of bio-diversity and natural attractions
unrivalled in the whole of Malaysia. The region is also home
to Taman Negara, the nation’s primary national park
which straddles the borders of three East Coast States of
Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang. Another world-famous national
park located in this Region is the Endau-Rompin Park. Both
are home to numerous protected animals and plant species and
among the oldest rainforest in the world.
There is great potential
for development in this field for individuals and companies
interested to develop tour packages and adventure based attractions
such as rock climbing, white water rafting, as well as boat
rides deep into the heart of the rainforests.
Interested investors
are able to rely on the knowledge and experience of the local
Orang Asli population, who are able to provide a wide range
of assistance and services for visitors venturing into the
area. There is also great potential in developing the indigenous
crafts of the Orang Asli such as basket weaving and wood carving
into viable sources of ethnic decorative items for sale.
