The shipbuilding and repair industry in Malaysia has been identified as a strategic industry by the Government under the Third Industrial Masterplan 2006-2020. It is one of the Entry Point Projects under the Economic Transformation Programme and is targeted to create RM6.35 billion in Gross National Income and 55,000 jobs by 2020.

In support of the national agenda, ECER offers opportunities for companies to invest the following areas;

  • Ship Building including offshore support vessels, barges, tugs, yacht, fishing vessels and boats;
  • Ship Repair / Conversion Activities; and
  • Marine Equipment Manufacturing.
