Manager, Media Relations

Major Responsibilities

To develop a clear structure and approach towards fulfilment of Public Relations and Media deliverables with Senior Manager, Corporate Affairs Division.

  1. Media Management
  • Planning, implementing, and managing ECERDC’s media campaigns to ensure optimal publicity on ECERDC events/projects through various media channels comprising print, electronic and online etc.
  • Managing and monitoring the appointed PR agency on the planning and execution of ECERDC’s media relations activities.
  • Producing, reviewing, editing, and copy-checking all written materials that are to be issued to the media, such as press releases, speeches, and fact sheets, among others, to ensure consistent and accurate messages across the board.
  • Acting as the key contact point from ECERDC in managing requests for interviews and/or enquiries from the media/publishing houses, as well as proposal for sponsorship/ advertorials in newspapers and magazines.
  • Organising and managing press conferences and media briefings for ECERDC.
  1. Editorial & Content Management
  • Liaising with the respective division/cluster heads and officers in obtaining the latest facts and figures on ECERDC projects and events that will be used in press releases, speeches, fact sheets, etc.
  • Assisting in the production of ECERDC collaterals (brochures, panels, calendars, print ads, annual report, etc.), particularly on the editorial aspects.
  1. Reputation and Crisis Management
  • Establishing and maintaining good rapport with the members of media fraternity (journalists, editors, photographers, television crew, etc.), both local and international, at all times.
  • Monitoring ECER-related news on a daily basis and compile it for dissemination to the management.
  • Managing media queries and preparing media statement(s) as and when required.

Position Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Public Relations/Mass Communications/Advertising/Business Administration/Marketing or any other related discipline from a recognized University.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of working experience in the area of public relations, branding, advertising and event organizing.
  • Knowledgeable in the principles and practices of Public Relations, Branding and Marketing Communications.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills in Bahasa Melayu & English.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage tight deadlines and provide best solutions in critical situations.
  • Creative and pro-active, with creative/editorial skills and a sharp eye for details.
  • Have strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage time for peak performance.
  • Pleasant personality.
