Food Basket: Driving Sustainable Growth in Agriculture
A key strategy for transformative and inclusive growth in ECER’s Food Basket thrust is the modernisation of agriculture across crops, livestock and fisheries. This forward-looking approach is driving diversification, scaling production, and creating new jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities for local communities.
ECERDC supports this transformation by investing in enabling infrastructure, promoting private investment, introducing smart farming technologies, and strengthening collaboration with government ministries, research institutes and industry players.
Building on past successes, the Food Basket thrust under the ECER Development Plan 2026–2030 focuses on expanding high-value crop production, developing a dedicated dairy valley to boost beef and milk supply, and scaling up aquaculture in line with the National Agrofood Policy (NAP) 2.0.
