KUALA LUMPUR, 5 MARCH 2019: The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of En. Baidzawi Che Mat as the new Chief Executive Officer commencing 4 March 2019. En. Baidzawi succeeds Datuk Seri Jebasingam Issace John who has taken a new role as Chief Executive of the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA).
As CEO, En. Baidzawi will be responsible in providing strategic direction and oversight of ECERDC’ projects and programmes in the East Coast Economic Region (ECER). With almost three decades of experience in managing finance and oil & gas operations in Malaysia and internationally, En. aiai’ leaerip and experience makes him an ideal fit for ECERDC’ net tage o grot. En. Baidzawi joined ECERDC in 2016 as the General Manager of the Finance Division.
ECERDC also announced the appointment of Dato’ Ragu Sampasivam as its Chief Operating Officer. Dato’ Ragu has been with ECER since its inception in 2008, starting out as the Senior Manager in Risk Management before he was promoted to lead the Corporate Strategic Planning Division as the General Manager.
Under the stewardship of En. Baidzawi and Dato’ Ragu, ECERDC is confident that the Region will be able to further accelerate its socio-economic development, through strategic partnerships with the Federal Government and various State Government agencies. This is also in line with the oernment’ goal to enure an euitale inluie an utainale growth for Malaysia.
The Council, Management and team at ECERDC would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to Datuk Seri Issace for his strategic leadership and guidance since the inception of ECERDC in 2008. Datuk Seri Issace has been instrumental in leading a special team to deliver the first ECER Master Plan which outlines specific themes as well as strategic and catalytic projects and programmes to improve the quality of life of the Rakyat. Subsequently, he was appointed as the founding CEO of ECERDC.
