ECERDC BRINGS BACHOK COMMUNITY CLOSER TOGETHER WITH "JALINAN KASIH" PROGRAMME

Bachok, KELANTAN, 15 Ogos: In conjunction with the month of Ramadhan, the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) today gives away 1,000 packets of bubur lambuk to over 1,000 Bachok residents under its “Jalinan Kasih” programme.

More than 40 local volunteers, including 20 participants of ECERDC’s empower Bachok, started the preparations to make the bubur lambuk since as early as 9 a.m. The savoury porridge was then distributed to mosques and prayer halls (surau) in the area.

On hand to give away the bubur lambuk was Deputy Finance Minister and also Member of Parliament for Bachok, YB Datuk Awang Adek Hussin.

ECERDC Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Jebasingam Issace John said the bubur lambuk distribution is part of ECERDC’s “Jalinan Kasih” programme which aims to reach out to the local community in the East Coast Economic Region (ECER), especially the poor and needy.

“This programme, which involves the participation of our empower social development programme participants, would also help foster stronger community relations, especially in the holy month of Ramadhan.”

He added that ECERDC has given away bubur lambuk under the “Jalinan Kasih” programme in Jelai, Jeli, Kemaman, Temerloh and Raub.

ECERDC’s empower programme was first introduced in Bentong, Pahang in 2010 to empower the ECER community through the Academic Skills Training programme and the Skills and Entrepreneurship Training programme respectively.

The empower programme currently involves a total of 7,200 participants, consisting of 3,200 students and 4,000 adults in Pahang, Kelantan and Terengganu.

Of the total figure, 900 are participants of empower Bachok, comprising 400 participants in the Academic Skills Training and another 500 participants under the Skills and Entrepreneurship Training initiative.
