RECORD TURNOUT OF MORE THAN 8,000 JOB SEEKERS AT THE ALLIANCE STEEL JOB FAIR

KUANTAN, PAHANG, 15 AUGUST 2017: For Nor Abdellah Abdul Samad, the possibility of returning to Pahang to work and be nearer to his family is an opportunity not to be missed. The 42-year old crane operator was amongst the 8,000 job seekers nationwide, who went to Alliance Steel (M) Sdn. Bhd.’s (Alliance Steel) two-day Job Fair recently to seize the 4,000 employment vacancies offered by Alliance Steel.

“For me, this is an opportunity of a lifetime to be coming back to my home town and be closer to my family, while embarking on a new career path with a global company right here in Kuantan, Pahang. Alliance Steel offers full-time positions, good employment benefits and I’m really thankful for this opportunity. This is possibly the start of a new beginning for my family and I,” said Nor Abdellah.

Originally from Pahang, Abdellah travelled to the Job Fair on Sunday morning from Johor Bahru where he is currently working. Following two rounds of interview within two hours at the event for the crane operator position, he is now eagerly awaiting to hear from the company within the next two weeks.

Another candidate, a local university fresh graduate who wishes to be known only as Nor,  also attended the event together with her family and friends upon hearing about the Job Fair through social media. “I’ve applied for a few positions and I look forward to building my career with the company. Personally, I am happy that Alliance Steel is offering job opportunities in Kuantan as it gave the locals, including myself the opportunity to build a career without me needing to migrate to other towns,” she said.

“The turnout is impressive, we have people from all walks of life including fresh graduates to even experienced candidates looking to advance their professional growth. In fact, the Alliance Steel Job Fair attracted more than 8,000 visitors, one of the biggest turnout so far. This is on top of the online applications received by the company,” said YBhg. Datuk Seri Jebasingam Issace John, the Chief Executive Officer of ECERDC at the event, which was jointly organised by Alliance Steel, in close collaboration with the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC), the Pahang State Government, and Jobs Malaysia.

“This is an indication of the large talent pool wanting to contribute to the economic growth in the East Coast Economic Region and we will continue to conduct more events such as this in the future. It also further reinforces our efforts in creating a skilled workforce coming from the Region to contribute to the growth of local and global businesses. Meanwhile, the Job Fair also serves as a platform to uplift the livelihood of the Rakyat, in line with the Government’s National Transformation Agenda to create a high-income nation and knowledge-based economy,” added Datuk Seri Issace.

Karnival Kerjaya Alliance Steel telah dilancarkan oleh Menteri Besar Pahang, YAB Dato’ Sri Diraja Haji Adnan bin Haji Yaakob, yang diwakili oleh YB Dato’ Norol Azali bin Sulaiman, Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Kesihatan, Sumber Manusia dan Tugas-tugas Khas Negeri merangkap Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Guai, pada 12 Ogos 2017 di Hotel Zenith, Pusat Konvensyen Antarabangsa Sultan Ahmad Shah di Kuantan. Turut hadir di acara tersebut ialah Encik Hu JiuLin, Timbalan Ketua Projek Alliance Steel.

“While we are currently in the midst of processing all of the shortlisted applicants, we expect most of the 4,000 vacancies to be filled given the good quality of applications we have received. So far, more than 900 applicants have attended the second round of interview during the Job Fair with approximately 90% of them being shortlisted. On top of this, we will be contacting other candidates for their second interview in the coming weeks. With the strong talent pool, we definitely look forward to begin and grow our business once our facilities are fully operational by 2018. We will also continue to work with ECERDC and the State Government to reach out to the locals from other districts through similar events as well as to develop our workforce with knowledge and technical expertise,” said Mr Hu JiuLin.

MCKIP sehingga kini telah berjaya menarik pelaburan sebanyak RM26.9 bilion, yang seterusnya akan mewujudkan 17,327 peluang pekerjaan. ECERDC will also continue to work with our stakeholders in ensuring that the rakyat will continue to be a core beneficiary of private investments flowing into the region,” Datuk Seri Issace added.

In addition to this, the ECER is expected to experience further socio-economic transformation following the delivery of other high-impact projects in the Region such as the expansion of Kuantan Port as well as the East Coast Rail Line (ECRL). The projects will significantly enhance connectivity as well as mobility of goods and services, further accelerating the economic growth within the region including in the rural areas.
