 TAMAN ILMU, TEMBILA, BESUT
With reference to media reports on the “Taman Ilmu, Tembila” project in Besut, Terengganu, the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) wishes to clarify that the project is NOT under the purview of ECERDC nor was it implemented by the Council.
The project was conceived in 2004 by the Terengganu State Government prior to the establishment of the ECERDC in 2008, a statutory body formed to spearhead the execution and implementation of the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) Master Plan. The ‘Taman Ilmu’ project was included in the ECER Master Plan as it was recognised as a project that could contribute towards the development of knowledge economy in the State.
The ECER Master Plan was approved in 2008 as a basis to guide the development of ECER through the implementation of projects and programmes to attract investments, reduce regional socio-economic disparities, eradicate poverty and improve income and wealth distribution in a sustainable manner.
We seek the cooperation of the media to clarify this matter with your readers/ viewers.
Thank you.
