Abdullah heads council

KUALA TERENGGANU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will head
the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECER-DC) which is set to
drive the implementation of plans under the ECER.
Also sitting on the council are Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Second
Finance Minister Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop and Minister in the Prime Minister’s
Department Tan Sri Amirsham A Aziz.
The Menteris Besar of Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang and Johor, as well as the Chief
Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan are also on the panel.
The four menteris besar are Datuk Ahmad Said (Terengganu), Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob
(Pahang), Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman (Johor) and Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat (Kelantan).
Representatives from the private sector sitting on the panel include Petronas president and
chief executive officer Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican and IOI Corporation Berhad executive
chairman Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng.
Former Petronas general manager of special projects, corporate planning and development
division, Datuk Jebasingam Issace John, was named as the CEO for the ECERDC.
