PEKAN, July 18 (Bernama) – The Empower East Coast Economic Region (ECER) Mahkota programme should be widened following its success in several districts in Pahang, said Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku
Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah. He said so far the programme had helped improved students’ academic performance and increased participants’ income irrespective of race in the Bentong, Temerloh, Lipis, Cameron Highlands, Raub and Kuala Pahang districts.
“The noble approach taken by ECER with the help of universities had borne fruit and I hope it will be extended to other districts in the state,” he said after launching the Kuala Pahang Empower ECER Mahkota at Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) here today.
The Kuala Pahang Empower ECER Mahkota is the brainchild of Tengku Abdullah who is also UMP chancellor.
Under the program, ECERDC with the cooperation of UMP, will conduct classes for academically weak students as well as provide technical skills training for 50 adults in Kuala Pahang.
