Malaysia’s ECER has participated in the 14th CIFIT organized here. ECERDC CEO Dato Issace John said this is the first time ECER is wooing investors from China through CIFIT.
This year, Malaysia has highlighted ECER on the CIFIT. The booth set up by ECER showcases information and development of different clusters as well as displaying special mould of SEZ at the booth. Investors are welcomed to know more about ECER Malaysia and the investment opportunities available in the region.
ECERDC CEO Tan Sri Lee Shin Cheng in an interview with China News Agency said Malaysia is hoping to accelerate the bilateral trade of both countries. He said: “China is the world’s leading investment destination and hence has attracted many investors from Malaysia, but since the launch of ECER, we hope to boost the bilateral trade of both countries.”
Issace John said Malaysia’s ECER would gain with inception of the Asean-China Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA). He said the strategic location east coast will boost the potential as important trade, industrial and tourism hub.
Dato’ Issace said the economic growth in ECER Malaysia will be driven by five key clusters of economic activities namely Tourism; Oil, Gas & Petrochemical; Manufacturing, Agriculture and Education.
Infrastructures facilities will be the important elements in drawing the investors. Terengganu state EXCO YB Toh Chin Yaw said the regional airport – Kuala Terengganu airport had been upgraded to international airport. The region’s infrastructure eg highway, airports, port and railways are also well established.
