A UNIVERSITI Teknologi Mara (UiTM) campus will be built in Bukit Besi, 85km from
Kuala Terengganu.
Phase One of the RM60mil campus is scheduled to start in May.
The university is strategically located 12km from the Dungun Interchange under the
East Coast Expressway Phase 2.
UiTM’s vice-chancellor Datuk Seri Prof Dr Ibrahim Abu Shah said the university was
sited near the East Coast Expressway and its proximity to Dungun and Kuantan
made it the perfect location.
“The first phase is expected to be operational by June 2010 and will have its first
student intake of 1,000 students in sports sciences and marine architecture.
“By 2012, the university will have about 5,000 students,” he said.
Existing university branch campuses of UiTM are located in Machang, Dungun and
Jengka.
