Johor (Mersing & Segamat)
Mersing and Segamat continue to strengthen their roles within ECER, supported by steady growth across services, agriculture, and manufacturing. Mersing remains the key coastal gateway for ecotourism and island tourism, drawing both local and international visitors through its rich natural attractions and growing services sector.
Segamat’s economy is anchored by agriculture and supported by increasing downstream activities and tourism potential. With its strategic location and expanding agri-based ecosystem, the district is well positioned to tap opportunities in food production, processing, and rural tourism.
By 2030, combined economic output for Mersing and Segamat is projected to increase from RM8 billion to RM13 billion, driven by stronger tourism-related services in Mersing and enhanced agricultural production in Segamat. Ongoing improvements in connectivity and regional linkages will further support private sector participation and future growth in both districts.
