600 Participants Graduate from ECER’s Human Capital Development Programmes
KUALA TERENGGANU, 2 MARCH 2023: The East Coast Economic Region Development Council’s (ECERDC) beach protection system project along Pantai Seberang Takir, consisting of beach nourishment works, as well as the ‘North Groyne’ and ‘South Groyne’ construction will be completed by 31 March 2023.
The progress of the project was updated by ECERDC in the ECER Implementation Coordination Committee (ICC) Terengganu meeting, here, today.
Terengganu Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Samsuri bin Mokhtar who chaired the ICC Terengganu meeting, commended ECERDC’s efforts in Terengganu to preserve the shoreline especially near Kuala Terengganu City Centre (KTCC) and in Teluk Lipat, Dungun.
“ECERDC is committed to ensure the completion of the beach protection system at Pantai Seberang Takir and the remaining four headlands in Pantai Teluk Lipat this year. These projects are important to preserve the Terengganu’s coastline that is at risk every monsoon and to ensure the development of tourism projects in Terengganu,” said Dato Baidzawi Che Mat, CEO of ECERDC
The ICC members were updated on other ongoing ECERDC projects which include the Kemaman-Gebeng water supply project and the KTCC-KTAR road Package 2 upgrading which began early this year and is expected to be completed by July 2025.
In supporting the government’s food security agenda, ECERDC also updated the ICC members on its ongoing agribusiness efforts in the areas of crops, dairy and fisheries.
Post ICC meeting, the ICC members attended the Majlis Apresiasi Program Pembangunan Modal Insan ECER Negeri Terengganu which were held in collaboration with SIRIM, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The ICC members also witnessed the launching of Yayasan PETRONAS empower ECER Latihan Kemahiran dan Keusahawanan programme with UMT and Yayasan PETRONAS entrepreneur ECER programme with SIRIM.
