Greenverse to Build the First Integrated Scheduled Waste Management Plant in the East Coast Economic Region (ECER) in Kerteh Biopolymer Park
PUTRAJAYA, 16 NOVEMBER 2021: Greenverse Sdn. Bhd. (GVSB) signed an acceptance offer to lease 50-acres of land from Lembaga Tabung Amanah Warisan Negeri Terengganu (LTAWNT) to develop an integrated scheduled waste management plant in Kerteh Biopolymer Park (KBP), with a total investment of RM220 million.
GVSB has built a track record of providing companies with professional and reliable solutions for waste management. It is the first company in Malaysia using FEMD TECH (Film Evaporation, Molecule Distillation Technology) in oil and solvent recovery project. The company was founded in 2019 by Dato’ Alex Heng Sia Kwang, who is also GVSB’s Director.
The investment by GVSB at KBP, which is developed and managed by East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) will further boost investments into Terengganu’s Oil, Gas and Petrochemical sector and the plant is targeted to be operational by 1 January 2025. Once operational, the plant is expected to help industries in ECER particularly in KBP, Kemaman and also Kerteh to minimise the cost of disposing their scheduled waste and aims to treat scheduled wastes more efficiently in an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible manner. It will also complete the ecosystem in Kerteh by offering a comprehensive waste management services ranging from analysis, treatment, recycling, recovery, and logistics, to final disposal of scheduled waste.
The investment is expected to create up to 250 new job opportunities that includes professional, managerial and skilled technical roles. This is in line with government’s aim to create more job opportunities for locals to uplift their livelihood.
The signing ceremony was held on 14 November 2021. The acceptance offer was signed by Datuk Hishammuddin Hasan, Chairman of GVSB while LTAWNT was represented by its Secretary, En. Nor Azam bin A. Rahman @ Yusof. The signing was witnessed by YBM Dato’ Tengku Hassan Bin Tengku Omar, Chairman of Trade, Industry, Regional Development and Administrative Wellbeing of Terengganu, Terengganu State Secretary YBM Tengku Seri Bijaya Raja, Datuk Tengku Farok Hussin Tengku Abdul Jalil and En. Baidzawi Che Mat the Chief Executive Officer of ECERDC.
KBP, ECER’s bio-economy and specialty chemicals hub, spans over 140-hectares with both Phase 1 and Phase 2 fully taken up. To accommodate the growing demand by investors, the Phase 3 of the park was constructed and completed last year. With this latest venture, total accumulated investment in KBP has increased to RM5.6 billion to date, with more than 5,000 employment created for the rakyat.
