The ECER Development Council will be participating in the Ninth Malaysia International Food and
Beverage (MIFB) Trade Fair this year to be held from July 10 to 12 at the Putra World Trade Centre,
The fair will bring together international, regional and local players to enhance the growth and
development of the food and beverage industry. It will also position Malaysia as a net food exporter by
2010 as targeted in the Ninth Malaysia Plan.
Representatives of East Coast Economic Region (ECER) will explain the concept of the ECER and its
incentives to create food self-sustenance in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Mersing.
The Council will also be speaking on ECER’s agriculture initiatives at the World Food Shortage
Conference, held in conjunction with the fair.
The ECER Development Council is the single authority empowered under an Act of Parliament, the
East Coast Economic Region Development Council Act 2008, to drive the implementation of the
ECER Master Plan.
MIFB08 is organized by Kumpulan Utusan and Expomal International, in collaboration with MOA
Incorporated of the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry.
It is a showcase of F&B products, innovation and services from different countries and provides an
ideal trade platform for identifying trade opportunities, new products and trends.
