Council and volunteers distribute food to 1,000 residents
LIPIS: The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) had distributed bubur lambuk prepared by its ‘Empower Cameron Highlands’ programme participants to some 1,000 residents in Jelai.
About 40 volunteers comprising 20 participants and the local community started preparing the bubur lambuk since early morning.
The savoury porridge was then distributed to 13 mosques and surau in the neighbourhood by Jelai assemblyman Datuk Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, who is also the Pahang Rural Development and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairman.
Council chief executive officer Datuk Jebasingam Issace John said the bubur lambuk distribution was part of its Jalinan Kasih programme to reach out to the local community, especially the poor and needy.
“This initiative involves the participation of our Empower social development programme participants to help foster a closer relationship with the community,” he said.
Issace John said similar initiatives would be carried out in Temerloh, Raub and Jeli.
