The Kuala Terengganu City Centre (KTCC) development will serve as a catalyst to help transform Kuala Terengganu city in line with aim of the federal government’s Economic Transformation
Programme to raise living standards of the rakyat.
East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) chief executive officer, Datuk Jebasingam Issace John, said the project would include a shopping complex called KTCC Mall, hotel and business suites.
“The project is expected to start in the second quarter of this year and completed in three years.
“It is expected to generate 5,000 jobs when completed,” he said at the groundbreaking ceremony here today.
Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, officiated the ceremony.
Also present were managing director of Kumpulan KTCC Mall Sdn Bhd, Tan Sri Tang Yeam Soon, and Datuk Bandar Datuk Adzlan Mohd Dagang.
The KTCC development, a strategic project in the East Coast Economic Region Development (ECER), will have a gross development value of about RM5 billion.
Terengganu’s capital and its surrounding areas were expected to see transformation in stages within ten years with the launch of the project, he said.
Jebasingam said the project, which will be undertaken by Kumpulan KTCC Mall, has attracted interests from local and foreign investors, including those from West Asia.– Bernama
