ECERDC EYES RM9.5 BILLION IN COMMITTED INVESTMENTS FOR THE STATE OF PAHANG IN 2023

Pantai Hiburan Rompin earmarked to be the 1st Recreational Vehicle (RV) Park in ECER.

PUTRAJAYA, 7 MARCH 2023: The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) targets to attract RM9.5 billion in committed investments to Pahang this year, an increase of over 40% from the achieved committed investments of RM5.5 billion last year. Potential investments in the manufacturing, agribusiness, tourism, oil, gas, and petrochemicals, as well as renewable energy sectors are anticipated to create more new jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities for the Rakyat in Pahang.

In the first two months of the year, ECERDC has achieved RM2.07 billion in committed investment in Pahang. This is a result of ECERDC’s intensive promotion efforts and close cooperation with the Pahang State Government, Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security Malaysia (MAFS), Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA).

Pahang Menteri Besar, YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Wan Rosdy Bin Wan Ismail after chairing the ECER Implementation and Coordination Committee (ICC) Pahang meeting today expressed his confidence that ECERDC will maintain the investment momentum and step up its investment promotion activities to attract more high-quality and high-value investments into the state.

“ECERDC’s strategic projects and initiatives planned for the State, like infrastructure improvements and human capital development programmes which are carried out in tandem with the investment efforts will help strengthen Pahang as a sought-after investment destination,” said YAB Dato’ Sri Haji Wan Rosdy.

“ECERDC fully supports the Government’s development agenda, especially in catalysing investments in new growth sectors as this will contribute to the creation of quality jobs or ‘pekerjaan yang bermaruah’, while developing ECER workforce in line with this agenda” said ECERDC’s Chief Executive Officer, YBhg. Dato’ Baidzawi Che Mat.

At the ICC meeting, the ICC members were briefed on the status of the RV industry development initiatives in Malaysia which includes last month’s visit by top executives from German RV manufacturers, RV components manufacturers and a renowned caravan trade fair organiser to Pahang Automotive Park (PAP) and Pahang Technology Park (PTP) to explore potential

investments in the area of assembly and manufacturing of RV in ECER during their three-day trade mission from 7 to 9 February.

Currently, ECERDC in its efforts to “Mencipta Destinasi” to promote tourism and to spur local economy is upgrading Pantai Hiburan Rompin, which includes the construction of the gateway, lookout tower, gazebo, ticket counter and other public facilities. Pantai Hiburan Rompin is also earmarked to be the 1st Recreational Vehicle (RV) Park in ECER

The ICC members were also briefed on other ongoing ECERDC projects which include the upgrading works at Jetty Kg. Salang, Tioman Island, water distribution pipe from Kemaman to Gebeng and the development of Pantai Hiburan Rompin.
