The tender for the Bukit Kuang bridge in Kemaman will be called in December or January next year, Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said said Wednesday.
He also said that an alteration would be made to the structure to make the bridge higher than originally planned so as to enable fishing boats to pass below it.
Ahmad said this information was conveyed to him by the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) chief executive officer Datuk Jebasingam Issace John.
He also said that the bridge would have a dual carriageway and would be able help overcome traffic congestion in Bukit Kuang.
On other projects, he said the state government would establish an agropolitan area in Besut and Setiu in an effort to step up food production in the state.
Ahmad said the state government had imported 400 goats which would be bred in Telaga Papan, Setiu, and added that a goat stud farm would be among the new projects to be established by the state government in Tersat Bukit Payong, Marang, to handle the demand in Terengganu and the rest of the country.
He also said that the Kemaman port would be upgraded.
