ECERDC ATTRACTS RM10.3 BILLION IN REALISED INVESTMENTS

Two MoUs and key development milestones reinforce efforts
to drive investment and economic growth across the East Coast

PUTRAJAYA, 28 OCTOBER 2026: The East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) recorded RM10.3 billion in realised investments across Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and the Johor districts of Mersing and Segamat in the first ten months of 2026, generating about 8,000 jobs, doubling the combined employment target of 4,000.

Realised investments reached 104% of the combined RM10 billion annual target, with investment performance reflecting continued economic activity across several sectors, including manufacturing, renewable energy, logistics, tourism, agriculture and food production.

ECERDC also recorded RM13.2 billion in committed investments across the region, exceeding combined targets of RM10 billion. These commitments represent a pipeline of prospective investments for future realisation, subject to the respective projects’ implementation and progress.

“Beyond the investment figures, the number of jobs created reflects the economic opportunities being generated across the region. We will continue working closely with investors, government partners and industry to facilitate investment realisation and ensure that development translates into meaningful opportunities for the people of ECER,” said Syamsul Farizz Nadzeri, Chief Executive Officer of ECERDC.

Investment activity across the region

Terengganu recorded RM4.8 billion in realised investments, led by RM2.0 billion associated with the expansion of Kemaman Port by Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation (EPIC) Berhad and the RM1.90 billion development of a floating solar farm by TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd. Manufacturing contributed a further RM600 million, supported by investments in coated and plated steel production and automotive components, among others.

Pahang registered RM1.7 billion in realised investments. Notable projects included a RM568 million integrated tourism centre by King’s Park Development Sdn Bhd, a RM400 million sucralose manufacturing facility by Jinhe Nutrition (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, and a RM274 million durian farm by Upayapadu Resources Sdn Bhd.

Meanwhile, in Segamat, Johor a RM3.3 billion investment was realised, driven by the development of a RM3.3 billion hybrid solar plant in Segamat by Lestra Hexa JV Sdn Bhd. In addition, Infinity Landbridge Express Sdn Bhd (Infinity) is undertaking a RM30 million investment to reactivate Segamat Inland Port (SIP) as a rail-based logistics hub in southern Peninsular Malaysia. The facility is expected to handle up to 6,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) per month, supporting more efficient freight movement and reducing reliance on road-based transportation.

Strengthening partnerships and project delivery

ECERDC is also strengthening collaboration to support investment and industrial development through two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with TGA Solutions Sdn Bhd (TGAS) and Infinity.

The MoU with TGAS establishes a framework for cooperation to promote and facilitate investments in the Tanjung Agas Industrial Area in Pahang, supporting efforts to attract investors and encourage further industrial development.

The MoU with Infinity focuses on exploring investment and transportation-related opportunities at Segamat Inland Port. ECERDC will support these efforts through investment facilitation, inter-agency coordination and industry engagement.

Key development milestones also continued across the region. In Kelantan, the Palekbang–Kota Bharu Bridge and Tok Bali Industrial Park recorded 47% and 54% completion, respectively, with both projects progressing on schedule.

In Pahang, the Kuantan Port Interchange was handed over on 3 September 2026 and the main infrastructure works for the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) 3, Phase 1, Package 1, have also been completed, marking a key milestone in the development of the industrial park, potentially attracting up to RM1.2 billion in ivestements.

Meanwhile, the Kuala Terengganu City Centre (KTCC) Promenade Phase 1 received its Certificate of Completion and Compliance (CCC) in June 2026, marking its readiness for public use.

“Moving forward, our focus is to turn investment commitments into realised investments while advancing projects that strengthen the region’s long-term competitiveness. Through closer collaboration with investors and our development partners, we aim to accelerate implementation and expand sustainable economic opportunities across the East Coast,” said Syamsul Farizz Nadzeri.
